For our project we wanted to choose commissioned street art from the opposing cities. Erim and I had to do research on public art around San Francisco that we found interesting. Then we sent a .kmz file over to them so they knew which pieces around the city we were interested in. Their job was to go take pictures or any other sort of media in the areas we had decided on. In the mean time, they had also done the same and found public art pieces in Vancouver they wanted us to work with. We then created a simple tour with the areas they had chosen, but added photos to the places to be seen while viewing the tour.

This is my second concept for my urban intervention project. It’s directed towards the students of Emily Carr, and I suppose some of the teachers as well. My school is known to have a lot of “hipsters,” this idea is made to allow the viewer to self reflect or to be used as pure humor. It depends which end of the joke the person is on. During foundation year, my friend Alex and I always giggled at the idea of hipsters and the fact that some people just try so damn hard, do people in an art school feel the need to fulfill the part of dressing like the cliche, typical art student?
